The trailer, safe to say, looks absolutely gorgeous for a short, 38-second trailer. Although these are just scenes that are still in development, the post states that “Yu Suzuki has sent it with loving care and hopes it will be all that the fans of the series have come to love, and will show those new to the game some of the wonder and magic they can expect from the continually unfolding world of Shenmue.”

The new backer opportunity is that for donating $6,000 the backer will appear in the game as an NPC, specifically at the Choubu Inn. If you have some money to burn and always wanted to be in a video game, this might be your chance. Sadly, they did clarify that these NPCs would definitely not have a fight scene with the protagonist Ryo. Although this offer only applies to four generous people and the project is only active on Kickstarter for about 32 more hours, so better make up your mind quickly.

Something else interesting of note is that the current funds for Shenmue 3 have reached over $5,000,000. This means that a “Character Perspective System” will be added to the final project. The Shenmue 3 Team hasn’t clarified on what this system is, but the fact that the system is only able to happen thanks to raising over $5,000,000 indicates that it’ll be something worth our time.

Shenmue 3’s Debut at this year’s E3

As it reaches its final hours, Shenmue 3 will finish its Kickstarter run as one of the 10 highest funded Kickstarter projects. Clearly with this much support from its fanbase, there is a lot of love for the Shenmue series. The fan’s love for the series is given back in spades with such beautiful visuals and the fact that some of the original cast, particularly Corey Marshall as the voice of Ryo, will be returning for the third installment.
